  5. Discussion on what issues need to be considered in PBL approach.
  6. Discussion on New Technology High as an example of New Technology Model.
  7. Discussion on the benefits of social bookmarking.
 1. When starting my journey through Project-Based Learning I have to keep in mind that this is not the typical teaching style used and the role of both the student and the teacher change. There are many benefits that come from the PBL approach. Instead of the teacher leading the students the students take on their own search for their very own questions. This allows for students to work as a team, adapt to change, enhances problem solving skills. Teachers also benefit by being able to create an environment and prepare students to thrive in a constantly changing society. Some issues that need to be considered in the PBL approach are that most teachers are not familiar with this new approach and are still learning how to properly intertwine this teaching style into the one that they currently take on. New Technology High was designed to help students prepare for the digital aspect of the work field and society. The whole curriculum was designed according to PBL. The is an example in how which students can be taught using PBL and be very successful in life. Social bookmarking will allow people to share information they have found online that may be helpful to those who are teaching or learning the same material. Tags can be created using key words to make what you are looking for even easier.

  1. Cassie, I liked that you mentioned how difficult it may be for teachers to properly intertwine PBL into the one that they use currently as this is very true. It seems to be very beneficial, but a big change for many teachers as well.

  2. Cassie,
I like how right from the start you let us know that this isn't the typical teaching style, because it isn't yet. Also that you pointed out the teachers are still learning about PBL and how to incorporate it into their classroom because it is true. For a lot of the older teachers this is a completely new concept so it may be difficult for them to execute it fully just yet. I also appreciate the fact that you referred to New Technology High from the book because it helps supports your ideas.

  3. Great view on PBL. It is interesting to read so much about a teaching approach that I do not remember being used as much when I was going through school. It is definitely not traditional, but has many benefits. The digital tools used in this approach are great, and I think they are a great way to engage students.
